2008 NESCom Trip
I think this field trip may be cursed because the weather is always bad when we go. This year though it cleared up enough to make the trip. The students had a great time touring the New England School of Communications in Bangor. They got to see the TV Studio Control room, the TV Studio, Mobile TV Unit, Recording Studios, and Radio Station. NESCom offers students a variety of Communications degrees in TV Production, Radio Broadcasting, Audio Engineering, Digital Media, Web Communication, and Journalism. It was a good exposure to what the school has to offer potential students and how they can help them enter the Communications field.

New Class, New Year

The students have been learning mostly introductory concepts. We started the year talking about digital photography and photographic composition. Students took photos according to the "Rule of Thirds" principle. Here's an example:

Students also got their feet wet using Adobe Photoshop. They created magazine covers and advertisements using the software.
Currently students are working with the video editing program Final Cut Studio. They've completed a Storybook project and are finishing up animations for our Halloween Children's Show. Those will be posted soon!
Here is a finished storybook project:
